First, enjoy the folk opera at Laokaixin Tea House. As an international tourism city, Hangzhou has paid more and more attention to the protection and development of the tourist cultures. Gongchen Bridge historic cultural block has been listed as the important protecting project by Hangzhou Government. Located at the west riverside of the Beijing – Hangzhou Canal, it was once a bustling place of the old Hangzhou. Lots of workers, craftsmen, fishing workers and stevedores are living here. Furthermore, it has retained the original forms of cultures and lifestyles of residents living in the period of the Republic of China, which has formed the special “Canal Culture”. Located in the Gongchen Bridge historic cultural block, Laokaixin Teahouse was opened in 2011. It differentiates form the other teahouses because of the integration of tea cultures and Qvyi culture (Chinese folk art forms). There are folk Qvyi performances like Hangzhou Xiaorehun, Hangzhou Pinghua and comedies every day.

Next, Five minutes’ walk from Laokaixin Teahouse to the Arts and Crafts Museum to learn a traditional skill from an experienced handicraftsman. It used to be an old silk factory by the Grand Canal. It is next to several other museums - China Fan Museum, China Knife, Scissors and Sword Museum, and China Umbrella Museum. The new landmark has collected nearly 600 works of arts and crafts, including a three-story-high bronze plum blossom - all mural made by local master Zhu Binren. The first floor contains shops selling artistic crafts; the second floor is an exhibition hall and studio space for several crafts masters; the third floor is a permanent exhibition hall displaying ceramics, sculpture, embroidery and other artistic crafts. A dozen of folk artists have studios on the second floor. Visitors are welcome to try their hand at various crafts and purchase them directly from the studio. The fourth floor is the Hangzhou Youth and Children's Cultural and Creative Center, containing 34 classrooms where young people study language, dance, music, art and crafts.

Take a boat ride on the grand canal from the Wharf of Qiaoxi Museum. Enjoy the scenery along the Grand Canal on a ship and listen to the introduction of the canal by a guide. The Grand Canal is the second biggest draw of Hangzhou after West Lake. Now that it has been successfully inscribed in the list of UNESCO Heritage Sites, the Grand Canal becomes even more popular among foreign friends. No doubt that food streets along the Grand Canal benefit a lot from the event, including Dadou Road. Still, it cannot be denied that Dadou Road possesses its own appeal and truly deserves the affection.

Lunch at Dadou Road. the Stretching from Daguan Road (???) to Jiangzhang Bridge (???) along the Grand Canal, Dadou Road covers an area of 95,000 square meters. In the street, lines of late Qing- and early Ming-style constructions, winding flagstone walkways, tall phoenix trees and red lanterns hung along the bank all demonstrate its importance in history, which surely has contributed to its formation as a historic block as well as a food street.

After lunch, visit the The 1,000-year-plus-old Xiangji Temple is the most special spot in the Dadou Road Historic Block. It is the only temple enshrining and worshiping the Shan Kinnara Bodhisattva who is also called Kitchen God in Chinese myths. Located on the bank of the canal, Xiangji Temple was once among the three largest temples in Hangzhou during the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644). Now the temple is the most popular one along the canal. You will get three incenses when you enter the temple to worship.

Next, visit the Fuyi Granary(???)and Yunhe Bookstore(????) Go away from the Dadou Road to the south for 10 minutes, you will arrive at the Fuyi Granary, an integral part of the Grand Canal, a UNESCO cultural heritage site. Come to grab a meal or a drink within its spacious courtyard. Then you will listen to the introduction about the granary and Cao Yun cultures. You may be surprised at the matured technique of building granaries in the ancient China.
