There are 2 ways to get to Yellow Mountain from your hotel nearby the Tunxi Ancient Street, shuttle bus and car rental or taxi; It is conevenient to visit Yellow mountain from downtown area. If you want to make your Huangshan trip easier, you can book a private transfer with alocal Huangshan tour company, it takes around 40 mins from Huangshan downtown hotel. It is the most expensive way to visit Huangshan mountain from the city; You can also take the city taxi which is cheaper than priavte transfer.

If you want to experience the local public transportation, you can take tourist shuttle bus, there are many tourist buses depart from Huangshan bus station to Mount Huangshan Scenic Area which convenient for the tourists. You’ll find them heading to the Mount Huangshan scenic area every 20 minutes. The Huangshan Distance Buses Station in the city is where you’ll both buy your tickets and depart. The bus ride itself is around 70 minutes.

Tunxi is located in the center of Huangshan city, you can see the hundreds of old but well-preserved rows of shops, evoking a bygone era in buildings that are simple and elegant; Appreciate Hui style architecture at Tunxi Ancient Street, it is one of the area that keeps lots of old building in original hui style; Visit Huangshan local museum at Tunxi Old Street, such as Tunxi Museum, Museum of ancient architectural style-Wancuilou and others.

The distance between Tunxi Ancient Street and Huangshan North Train Station is about 15KM, you can take public bus No.21, fast line 1 and line 3 from train station to Huangshan old street; Or you can take a taxi, it takes 20-30 minutes and costs about 30 yuan. If you are confused about the public transportation, private transfer service with local tour company is the best option for you, a private driver will meet you at the eixt of the train station, then take you to the Tunxi Ancient Street.

There are many peaks at Huangshan Mountain, the highest point in Yellow Mountain is Lotus Peak. It is located in the middle of the Yellow Mountain, southwest of the Jade Screen Peak. It is 1,864 meters above sea level, the highest peak of Mt. Huangshan, and the third highest peak in east China.

If you are a first time traveler in Huangshan, we highly recommend you stay at least 2 days in Huangshan city, one day for famous Yellow Mountain sightseeing and another day for the ancient village in Huangshan, such as Hongcun Ancient Village which is the film spot for the "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon". High speed train and flight both available to get into Huangshan city, it saves lots of travel time.

December is the winter in Huangshan city, the average temperature at Mount Huangshan is from -6°C to 10°C. It will be much colder on the top of mountain, even heavy snow at the mountain range. When you travel to Huangshan during winter, you should down jackets, warm coats, sweaters, and thermals, gloves, warm hat, scarf, non-slip trekking shoes.

Summer is also a good time to visit Huangshan city and Mount Huangshan, but it will be much hotter than spring and autumn. Mount Huangshan is regarded as one of the summer resort in Anhui Province, the temperature much cooler on the top of mountain. It is a good period to enjoy the sunrise and sunset scenery. Compared to other seasons, summer time and Chinese holidays will be much more crowded in Huangshan city, there are lots of domestic tourists travel to there.
